The Transport Company has arranged over 4,800 buses + 1,000 additional buses to facilitate people traveling during the New Year festival 68, with 120,000 people per day. Remind!! Passengers who have booked tickets in advance for the Northern – Northeastern route, traveling from 25 – 28 Dec. 67 at 6:00 PM onwards, must board the bus at Bangkok Central Station.

Today (November 28th, 2024), Mr. Attawit Rakchamroon, Acting President of Transport Co., Ltd. (TCL.), announced preparations for the New Year 2024 travel season, running from December 25th, 2024, to January 3rd, 2025. This is part of the Ministry of Transport’s policy to ensure smooth, safe, and joyful travel under the “I-SMART” concept to enhance transport networks, improve quality of life, support the economy, and promote environmental friendliness.

Key Highlights for New Year Travel:

  1. Daily Travel Estimates:

    • Outbound (Dec 25–28): 75,000–100,000 passengers daily, peaking at 120,000 passengers on December 27th. TCL. will operate 4,500–4,800 trips daily.
    • Inbound (Jan 1–3): 70,000–90,000 passengers daily with 4,200–4,500 trips.

  2. Boarding at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station:
    Passengers traveling to the North, Northeast, and Eastern regions on December 25–28 from 6:00 PM onwards must board at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station (Gate 2).

    • Convenient access via MRT Blue Line, Red Line, buses, and taxis.

  3. Free Shuttle Service:
    TCL. will provide free Shuttle Buses to BTS Mo Chit Station from 4:00 AM to 7:00 AM to reduce congestion.

  4. Additional Buses:
    1,000 extra buses (non-scheduled vehicles) will be deployed to ensure passengers are accommodated without delay.

  5. Safety and Traffic Management:

    • Collaboration with relevant agencies like the Department of Land Transport (DLT), State Railway of Thailand (SRT), and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) for seamless connections.
    • Police forces from Traffic Police Divisions and local stations will manage traffic flow and conduct alcohol and drug checks for bus drivers.
    • Checklist Inspections: Every bus and driver will be checked at designated points before trips.

  6. Strict Safety Measures:

    • Buses must not exceed 90 km/h, and two drivers are required for journeys exceeding 4 hours.
    • Passengers must wear seat belts throughout the trip.
    • Only ticketed passengers are allowed in platform areas, and sharp or illegal items are strictly prohibited. Baggage will be scanned for safety.
