(TCL.), stated that heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding and flash floods across the southern provinces, significantly impacting many residents. As of November 29th, 2024, reports from Narathiwat, Yala, Pattani, and Songkhla Bus Stations indicate that floodwaters have disrupted bus services on 4 routes, as follows:

    • These routes now terminate at Hat Yai Bus Station, Songkhla, as high floodwaters prevent buses from reaching their final destinations.

    • This route is temporarily suspended between Hat Yai and Songkhla. Service will terminate at Hat Yai Bus Station due to rising floodwaters caused by heavy rain.

(TCL.), announced preparations for the New Year 2024 travel season, running from December 25th, 2024, to January 3rd, 2025. This is part of the Ministry of Transport’s policy to ensure smooth, safe, and joyful travel under the “I-SMART” concept to enhance transport networks, improve quality of life, support the economy, and promote environmental friendliness.

Key Highlights for New Year Travel:

  1. Daily Travel Estimates:

    • Outbound (Dec 25–28): 75,000–100,000 passengers daily, peaking at 120,000 passengers on December 27th. TCL. will operate 4,500–4,800 trips daily.
    • Inbound (Jan 1–3): 70,000–90,000 passengers daily with 4,200–4,500 trips.

  2. Boarding at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station:
    Passengers traveling to the North, Northeast, and Eastern regions on December 25–28 from 6:00 PM onwards must board at Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Station (Gate 2).

    • Convenient access via MRT Blue Line, Red Line, buses, and taxis.

  3. Free Shuttle Service:
    TCL. will provide free Shuttle Buses to BTS Mo Chit Station from 4:00 AM to 7:00 AM to reduce congestion.

  4. Additional Buses:
    1,000 extra buses (non-scheduled vehicles) will be deployed to ensure passengers are accommodated without delay.

  5. Safety and Traffic Management:

    • Collaboration with relevant agencies like the Department of Land Transport (DLT), State Railway of Thailand (SRT), and the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) for seamless connections.
    • Police forces from Traffic Police Divisions and local stations will manage traffic flow and conduct alcohol and drug checks for bus drivers.
    • Checklist Inspections: Every bus and driver will be checked at designated points before trips.

  6. Strict Safety Measures:

    • Buses must not exceed 90 km/h, and two drivers are required for journeys exceeding 4 hours.
    • Passengers must wear seat belts throughout the trip.

On November 22nd, 2024, Transport Co., Ltd. (TCL.) conducted its annual fire drill and emergency evacuation at the Chatuchak Mini-Bus Station. The drill was organized by the Safety, Occupational Health, and Environment Division under the Risk and Occupational Safety Management Department, with support from external agencies including Bang Sue Metropolitan Police Station, Sutthisan Fire Station, and Vichaivej Rescue Team.

Scenario Details:

The exercise simulated a fire outbreak in the Electrical Control Room on the 1st floor of the office building.

  • One person was reported injured.
  • Firefighters promptly assisted in rescuing the injured individual and extinguishing the fire.
  • The Vichaivej Hospital Rescue Team provided first aid on-site and transported the injured person to the hospital for further treatment.

Objective of the Drill:

The annual fire drill aligns with the Ministerial Regulation on Safety Management Standards, specifically the 2012 regulation requiring businesses to conduct fire and evacuation drills at least once a year. This practice aims to:

  • Ensure preparedness and effective response during fire emergencies.
  • Improve understanding of emergency procedures for personnel.
  • Minimize potential loss of life and damage to property.

#TCL. and DLT Inspect CNG-LPG Buses, Urge Operators to Complete Vehicle Inspections by December 2#

On November 21st, 2024, Mr. Jirut Wisalajit, Director-General of the Department of Land Transport (DLT), and Mr. Attawit Rakchamroon, Acting President of Transport Co., Ltd. (TCL.), conducted an inspection at the Bangkok Bus Terminal (Chatuchak), also known as Mo Chit 2. This initiative follows the DLT’s directive requiring all operators of public buses using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) or Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) as fuel to have their engines and safety equipment inspected and certified by November 30, 2024.

Key Directives:

  • TCL. will notify and follow up with partner bus operators using CNG and LPG fuel to ensure compliance.
  • The deadline for completing the vehicle inspections is extended to December 2, 2024.
  • Failure to comply will result in legal action in accordance with transport regulations.

Additional Discussions:

The meeting also addressed plans to deploy non-scheduled buses (Type 30) to operate during the New Year travel season, ensuring sufficient transport capacity for the public and tourists. This aligns with the policy of Mr. Sutthipong Piyachoti, Deputy Minister of Transport, to:

  1. Enhance safety and passenger confidence in public transportation.
  2. Meet the increased travel demand during peak holiday periods.
